Obituary of Maya Pettyjohn
Maya was born in Hampton, VA at Langley Air Force Base on May 16, 1996, to
her loving parents Saadiq and Tina Pettyjohn. She departed this life on
November 29, 2022 at the age of 26.
Growing up as a child of dual military parents, she and her sister Aliyah had
the opportunity to live in Virginia, Hawaii, Texas and now South
Carolina. She was able to meet people of all walks of life that she always
considered as family! She loved family gatherings and had an eclectic taste in
music of all genres.
Although Maya had a lot of medical challenges, it did not stop her from
graduating from Virginia Allred Stacey High School. She earned an Associate
Degree in Psychology from Northwest Vista Community College, San Antonio,
TX. Maya was an avid reader and a bastion of wisdom. She had a common sense approach
and was a personal counselor to all who asked and listened. Maya was always very
competitive and loved the card games Phase 10 and Uno.
Growing up around a family that loved basketball and football, she chose her
own passion and fell in love with MLB and NHL. Her favorite MLB
team was the reigning Champs Houston Astros ⚾️!!! She thoroughly enjoyed the
Nashville Predators as well as the Carolina Hurricanes.
Maya was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
