Dear Pettyjohn family.
My most sincere condolences. I have no words to express to you the depth of my sadness for your loss.
The life force, the energy, the promise and all the hope that made Maya- Maya, the very tangible spirit that when binded and knitted together became Maya. And now gone, leaves a place of longing that is left empty and wanting whose name is grief and can be all consuming. My prayers for you and your family is that in time grief would lose its edge and the gift of doing life with Maya would fill the void and chase away the shadow of grief. The empty place of loss and longing be filled/replaced with the knowledge that you were gifted to be the keeper for a time of Joy and Hope and greater than that was to love and to be loved by your sweet girl. May this knowledge push out and overshadow the loss. May the Holy Spirit of comfort carry you until you can stand and beyond. Praying peace and comfort and blessings over you and your family. Love you so much.

Where can I start there’s so many memories I can share but I know if I write all of them down there won’t be no more room for anyone else. So I’ll try to keep it short which is so hard for me cause I’m very long winded . My years of knowing Maya was such a great experience, I was her and Aliyah’s first caregiver Maya was an infant at the time. Even though the road wasn’t always easy but with God by your side he will get you through anything , and I thank him for that..My family, and my husbands family grown to love her over the years, especially my mom(RIP) if God wouldn’t have step in on that day I first met Tina, I wouldn’t have had the pleasure of knowing them, but my mom intervened (because she knew what God’s plan was),so on that day our lives had changed forever. Like the saying goes “God works in mysterious ways”. Tina, PJ, Aliyah and Maya walk into our lives as strangers and then became FAMILY. We love y’all so much, and Maya will always live on in our Spirit, in our Heart in our Memories and in our Soul.

Family,
I remember the first day I met Maya. As her personal trainer, I asked her to do things she thought were impossible! She gave me a lot of pushback with her contagious smile, but she overcame every doubt with each repetition she completed. She undoubtedly amazed us all. With each session, I grew more impressed by her will and strength. I’m going to miss you Maya. Your WILL and STRENGTH will live on in me, your parents and sisters.
Love you all
