Janie, you and Dick were a love story-and had a wonderful partnership & marriage, ... were your own persons...yet inseparable...you had a lovely balance & harmony few couples attain, that of itself - is a tribute to you both. Dick was always so sweet, caring, loving, happy, and ever-ready to give a word of southern wisdom, support, a mischievous chuckle, or a heart-warming smile... and there to lend a hand whenever needed. Janie, I'm So very sorry for your terrific Loss...and I know there's no words alone that can comfort you right now, but we are here to help if we can. Hope you know you are loved dearly... Sending Prayers for You & Dick, Bless you .. Dick will be sorely missed, there is no other one like him... he was very special, unique, & just terrific, for sure ! My Love for you both runs deep....& I'm here for you, whenever you need. Love you, very much... Bev

Rode with Dick about every weekend from The Citadel to Spartanburg while we were there. We had some good times laughing and being ourselves. Won't forget Dick's laugh and dry sense of humor. Hung out together in Spartanburg at the Beacon and the Sugar and Spice watching the girls. I think I was with him when he met Jane, and told him not to make her brother upset as he had been a big football player. A good friend is hard to find, and he will be missed. May he rest in peace. I knew Dick at The Citadel, but got to know him very well in pilot training at Vance AFB. Dick was humble and the quintessential gentleman. I lost contact with Dick after pilot training. My condolences to his family and close friends. We lost a good man. In His Grace and Blessings: Heyward Sutherland, '70e, Lexington, SC

I don't think I ever saw Dick without a smile. He was a truly kind, gentle man, and I know he was well loved by those who knew him best. Dick cared so much for his furry friends, and I will be donating to Pets Inc. in his name.
