Obituary of Doris E. Applegarth

Doris E. Applegarth (Kreutsberg) of Lancaster, SC, went home to Heaven on January 4, 2016, at the age of 89. Doris was born on August 10, 1926 in Edgeley, ND. She was a daughter of Fred Kreutsberg and Hazel Spitzer Kreutsberg; wife of Lyle Applegarth; mother of Nancy Winchell ( Leigh) of Brussels, Belgium; Tricia Walker (Paul Mead) of Prosperity, SC; grandmother to Bobby Hodge, Chris Winchell ( Lauren), Brandon Walker, Justin Winchell, Ryan Winchell and Anna Walker. She also had nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Doris and Lyle were married for 55 wonderful years. Together, they spent 23 of those years living in Alaska, and raising a family. They were members of Second Baptist Church in Lancaster SC. During her lifetime, Doris was a teacher and receptionist, but her passion was being a great wife, homemaker, mother and Grammy, all of which she did very well. Always quick with a warm smile, she loved spending time with family and friends. Doris was a great hostess and cook who loved to open her home to guests, making them feel the warmth of love and family borne from a servant's heart. Doris was the last surviving sibling of 7, two brothers and 4 sisters. A funeral service for Doris Applegarth will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC, 29072. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel.
