I knew Doris when she volunteered in the VMS department at JAARS. I moved away ten years ago but Doris and I still kept in touch. We would talk and pray on the phone and if either of us was discouraged she would always come back to the certain knowledge that God was in control. I am so sad that she is gone, but I know she was ready for the day when she would be with God and free of the limitations of old age, so I rejoice for her.

I have known Mrs Doris for about 13yrs because she came in the beauty shop I work in.. I did her hair when her regular hair dresser was out or on vacation. Recently, she had to have a driver bring her and could only come in days her regular girl, Dusty, was off. So, she asked me would I take her as a customer. She was one of a kind. She kissed me on the cheek every Saturday when she left. She didn't meet a stranger. She spoke to everyone in the beauty shop. She was a people person. I am so saddened by her sudden death, but I know she's rejoicing with Jesus. She was such an inspiration. She was a model Christian mother, wife, grandmother, friend. She always talked about her family- her daughters, and what they were up to and her grandchildren and her soon to be great grandchild.. She was a sweet spirit and she will be greatly missed. I pray for Lyle, Tricia, Nancy and everyone else. I loved her dearly and still can not believe she is gone.. I miss you already Doris.. until we meet again my friend.

I'll always remember Doris' kindness and sharing Christ's love when I started working at VMS. She, Lyle, and I would eat lunch together. I thank God for her example and witness for the Lord. I'm saddened and will miss her, but will try to follow her example.
May the Lord strengthen and encourage Lyle.

Oh my! I just got this news. It saddens me because I worked in the Vernacular Media Department at JAARS, where Dorothy volunteered for several years, she was my biggest cheerleader - she was such an encouragement to talk to and made me feel like my own mother was by my side. After dealing with the feeling of sadness it didn't take long to be happy for her to be in the presence of the Lord. Prayers for Lyle and the family during this time.

Doris was such a special lady...always smiling, always cheerful, always asking about our family and saying she would pray for us/them. She was always an encouragement. At VMS we called our receptionists 'Directors of First Impressions' and your Mom was the best one! We'll all miss her. Please give Lyle our love and know we are praying for all of you during this time.

I will never forget the ready smile your mother always had. Her hugs and encouragement were a tremendous help to my late wife and me as we went through her breast cancer and the associated treatments. She was a woman who knew how to share the love of God with others and lived. Roger Bryson, Waxhaw NC

I am privileged to have met your mom more than 30 years ago. What a lady! She was cute, funny and even lived the dream on the back of a motorcycle! I remember her kind, loving spirit. She always exhibited the love of Christ. While your loss is great, the privilege of having her "mother" you has an eternal impact on your lives and the lives of all she touched. And now she's in the presence of her Lord! Nance & Tricia, I love you!-- "we grieve but not as those who have no hope."
