Obituary of Ronald Kevin Skipper

Funeral services for Dr. Ronald Kevin Skipper, 56, of Blythewood, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church, 4347 Sunset Boulevard, Lexington, SC 29072. Rev. Rocky Purvis and Rev. Dr. Randall Jones will officiate. The family will greet friends from 12:00 - 1:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Kevin passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at his residence. Born in Fontainebleau, France, he was a son of the late Ronald Mayo Skipper and the late Rebecca Best Jordan. He loved his family, and worked hard to provide for them. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, history and spending time with his adored grandson. He had a true appreciation for our country's military, and was a patriot. He earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and pastored in Texas, First Baptist Church of Loris, SC and Kittiwake Baptist Church in West Columbia. Kevin was known on WVOC radio as the host of "The Discipline Financial Show", as well as providing financial and parent care segments each morning. He was the owner of, and financial advisor at Discipline Financial Management, LLC in Lexington. He was the author of the book, "11.5 IRA Essentials for Retirement", and co-author of the book, "The Parent Care Conversation: 11.5 Strategies". He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Audrey G. Skipper; step-mother, Patricia Skipper of Casselberry, FL; son, Joel Kevin Skipper of Columbia; daughter, Kristin Skipper Cole (Brian) of Lexington; grandson, Landon Zachary Cole; brother, James Skipper (Carissa) of Georgia; brothers, Harvey Totten, Lynn Dale Totten (Linda), Jeffrey Totten; sisters, Dawn Ober, Sally Gallenkamp (Gary), all of Florida. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; step-father, Fred Jordan; brother, Kenneth Edwin Skipper. The family requests no flowers, please.
