Obituary of James Edwin Davis

James Edwin Davis, 86, US Post Office retiree of West Columbia, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013. Born in Greenville, SC, March 14, 1927, he was a son of the late James B. Davis and Mary Grace Kindley. Funeral services with military honors will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 12 pm at Woodridge Memorial Park, Gazebo. The family will receive friends from 11am until the hour of service at the gazebo. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Mr. Davis was a member of Cayce Church of the Nazarene. He was Chaplain and member of The Forty & Eight and the American Legion. He served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 66 years, June S. Davis; son, Cary Davis of Gaston, SC; daughters, Laura (Joe) Lusk of North Augusta, SC, Susan (Ron) Haithcock of High Point, NC, Nadine (Dan) Groves of Laurens, SC, Joy (Ron) Blakley of Chapin, SC; brothers, Alvin Davis, Charles Davis, Kindley Davis, Shaw Davis; sisters, Aliene Moore, Doreen Henderson, Greta Jackson, Linda Whitmire, Margaret Robinson; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandson Ronald "Trey" Doolittle, III, brothers David Davis and Ramsey Davis and a sister, Abigail King. The family has entrusted Woodridge Funeral Home with handling the arrangements.
