I concur with cousin Rozanna mentioning Aunt Marty's sense of humor and twinkle in her eye. I fondly remember when we were young, Uncle Jim and Aunt Marty picked us up one summer day and surprised us with a trip to Excelsior Amusement Park! How exciting that was!
Roger and I extend our sympathies to Uncle Jim and the family. Aunt Marty was a blessing to me and truly was a favorite aunt.

Aunt Marty always made the mundane things in life seem like so much fun. She had the best sense of humor and always had a twinkle in her eye. So grateful for the short visit we had in Battle Creek when our kids were young. We went swimming in the lake with giant pieces of styrofoam and then went home for a delicious meal and then her and Uncle Jim taught us a new game. She showed me how to live for Christ and for others. I’m forever grateful.
My dad and I want to give our sympathies to Uncle Jim.

Just learned from Marty's granddaughter, Katy Anderson, who works with my sister, Verna Akers, in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, that Marty was my father, John A Tieszen's first cousin!! Such a tiny world and such a delight to know the two of them have been reunited in our Father's House! John passed in Aug 2018 at the age of 98! So thrilling to read how Marty and Jim served the Lord throughout their lives! I cannot sorrow for them because I shall see them "soon". I am the grand-daughter of Abraham and Nettie Tieszen who moved to Saskatchewan in 1905ish and lived near Hepburn. If anyone wants to be in touch contact me @ imimakeme@gmail.com May our Father hold you close, Jim!

I had the privilege to live with Jim and Marty for a year and a half as a foreign student 30 years ago.
Thank you, thank you for this unforgettable time, for all you have done for me, but much more for what you have been for me:
My dearly loved „American parents“
With deep gratitude
your „German daughter“ Bea

For the entire Wiens family. I am sorry for your loss but happy for Heavens gain. I remember one particular youth activity where we camped out in Jim & Marty's back yard in Battle Creek. We were singing long and loud and we all went to the kitchen to get some more water to drink. Marty wondered what had made us so thirsty.
May God bless you and your family at this time.

Jim and Marty's last visit with us in Easton, PA in the spring of 2008 before our move to Germany. Despite their busy schedule visiting all their children and grandchildren all across the US on a regular basis they made time to visit one of their "German daughters and grandkids". Our children, now 19 and 16, remember them as "grandma and grandpa" to this day.
Her going home came so unexpectedly and leaves us with aching hearts. Thinking of Jim and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and praying for peace and comfort in this big loss. Can't wait for the heavenly reunion.
