Obituary of Harry Randolph Pollard

Funeral services for Harry R. “Randy” Pollard, 80, of Hilton Head will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. Pastor Charlie Tyler will officiate. Burial, with USMC honors, will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Randy Pollard passed away January 11, 2019 at his home in Hilton Head. Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Harry Chislum Pollard and Dorothy Ann Welborn. He served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962, and remained active in his brotherhood in the Marine Corps League “Speedy” Wilson Chapter. Randy was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and Jamil Temple Shrine. A lover of stories and adventure, his obituary could fill volumes, but he told us to keep it short!

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda McElhinney Pollard; son, Mike Pollard (Rachel) of Lexington, KY, daughter, Cindy Hoogenboom (Scott) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Owen, Jack, Julia, Caroline and Bailey; sisters, Becky Neigel of New London, CT, Susan Sartor (Carl) of Canyon Lake, TX. Randy is also survived by a large and loving extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC, 29910, or https://hospicecarelc.org/donate/
