Obituary of Brenda Kaye Harmon

Brenda Kaye Dawkins Harmon, 69, of Pelion, SC passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023.

Brenda was born at Ft. Jackson, SC and resided in Pelion, SC for most of her life.  She was a 1972 graduate of Lower Richland High School.  Brenda was retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a rural mail carrier for many years.  She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb she inherited from her dad.  Brenda took much pride in taking care of her yard and making sure it was in perfect condition.  After bringing home a goat on a whim one summer, Brenda settled into “farm life.”  She loved tending to her rabbits, chickens, donkeys, and especially her goats.  Brenda never shied away from bottle feeding baby goats and regular farming chores.  She loved her family and their get-togethers no matter what the occasion.

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Becky McMichael (Jeff) of Columbia, SC, Buffy Tindal (Jackie) of Pelion, SC, Brandy Rufty (Collin) of Mooresville, NC; son, Brian Jones (Kim) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; grandchildren, Eli McMichael, Andrew McMichael, Randol Jones (Ana), Elissa Jones, and Arie Loggins; great grandson, Oliver Jones; brothers, Neal Dawkins (Lisa) of Lexington, SC, Ken Dawkins (Michelle) of West Columbia, SC, Pat Dawkins of Cayce, SC, Phil Dawkins (Tammy) of Columbia, SC;  and a large and loving extended family. 

Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Claud Randol “Randy” Dawkins and Arie Lee Durden Dawkins; sister, Elaine Dawkins Love; daughter, Bailey Renee Loggins; grandsons, Kyle Tindal and Evan Tindal.

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd. Lexington, SC 29072. The family will greet friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to be made in Brenda’s memory to Lexington County Animal Services, 321 Ballpark Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
