





Obituary of Gwen Tidwell
Port Royal, South Carolina – Gwendolyn Priscilla Tidwell passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Gwen, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on July 28, 1950, in Columbia, SC to the late Ed Banks and Roxie Lee Branham Heath. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Tidwell, Priscilla Harris; and sister, Brenda Hennessee; her grandchildren, Austin and Justin Harris, Breanna Forrester, and Elaina Williamson; and four great-grandsons; as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews, including John and Greg Zenoni, Tara Shealy and Heather Heath. Gwen is also survived by her sister, Patricia (Pat) Shealy and husband Tim Shealy, whom she both loved dearly and worked for at the family business for many years (Shealy’s Sandwiches) and lived with for the past 20 + years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles P. “Sonny” Bowen; sisters, Lillian Wilson, Betty Massey and Dorothy Zenoni Smith.
Gwen was a lover of the SC State Fair, having worked at Jaco’s during the fair season, enjoyed being at the beach whenever possible and listening to her favorite musical artist, Elvis Presley.
The family would like to express special thanks to Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care and love they provided to Gwen during her illness.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeside Gazebo at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC with a funeral service at the Gazebo at 11 a.m. Pastor Dwayne West will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kittiwake Baptist Church, 420 Kittiwake Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170, or the charity of your choice.
