Obituary of Leland S. Hess

Leland S. Hess – West Columbia – A graveside service for Leland S. Hess, 80, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington.  

Leland Hess passed away February 19, 2023. Born in Montgomery, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William V. Hess and Jessica Rae Hess.  Leland attended Charleston University, the University of Wisconsin, and graduated from Center College in Charleston, WVA. He retired from NAPA Auto Parts as a Regional Manager with a career spanning 35 years, and a second career with Coldwell-Banker of over 12 years. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, and a Master Mason of over 50 years in Boyleston Lodge #123 in Ballentine, SC. Leland was also a member of Northside Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the drums as a hobby. He loved life and his family.

Leland is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce J. Hess; son, Nicholas L. Hess (Colina) of Lexington; 2 grandchildren, Dr. Brooke Hess Houshiar (Rhomteen), Gregory Hess (Amanda); great grandson, Brent Hess; sister, Virginia Frances Ferguson of Charleston, WVA. In addition to his parents, Leland was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, including a sister-in-law, Martha Hess, and four brothers-in-law.
