Obituary of Lisa Harmon Long

Lisa Harmon Long, 59, died Monday June 20, 2022 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC after a lengthy battle with Heart problems. She was born September 29, 1962 in Columbia, SC, the daughter of the late Carl Wesley & Elise Murphy Harmon.  In 1980, Lisa graduated from Brookland Cayce High School.

Lisa worked as a phlebotomist with South Carolina Internal Medicine until she began having health issues. Lisa had an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) for almost 6 years of her life, and loved to talk with others about this product and  figuring out ways to make life easier living with a 7 lb. device strapped to your waist, day in and day out.

When Lisa had to stop working and stayed at home more, she used her God-given talents of drawing, painting, baking the best cakes, decorating, and planning weddings for her nieces. She recently began writing books to fulfil her days. Lisa was known also for her most giving heart.  She would make or buy items for others just to let them know she was thinking about them. Before she had to stay at home full-time, she loved to travel around the world with her travel companions of very dear friends and her mother.  She was loved by all that met her and could light up any room with her smile and beauty.   Her strength, along with her faith in God, will always be an inspiration to all that loved and knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Surviving is her loving husband of 20 years, Mickey A. Long of Lexington; her son, Cameron Lee Miller (Ashley) of Tampa, FL; her sister, Kimberly Harmon Smith (Allen) of Lexington; and brother-in-law, Chris Sox; as well as 3 nieces and 1 nephew. In addition to her parents, Lisa was predeceased by her sister, Cathy Harmon Sox.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC  29072.
