Kristen (Kristi) Marie Harmon “Rice”

On November 18, 2021, the Lord received Kristi Harmon “Rice” as another angel. Kristi was the light of our life and has left this world too soon. She was deeply loved and will forever be missed. She left a lasting impression in the heart of everyone she met. Kristi has joined her Dad in Heaven and together they are a bright shiny star.

Kristi Harmon “Rice” was born in Lexington, SC.  She was the daughter of Sharon Hammond and the late Bill Hammond. Kristi loved her family immensely and was deeply devoted to them. She loved life and could always make you smile. Kristi loved going fishing, hunting and to the lake with Chris and Drake. She was an English teacher at Strom Thurmond High School, and dearly loved her students. Kristi was a graduate of Airport High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree from USC at Aiken, and was currently working on her Master’s degree in Education at USC in Columbia.

In addition to her Mom, Kristi is survived by her sisters, Stephanie Harmon (Will) of Kershaw, SC and Amy Gantt (Jason) of Eustis, FL; fiancé, Chris Rice of Lexington, SC, her niece and nephew, Abbey and Charlie Gantt; her beloved dog, Drake; her honorary family, Karen “Meme” and Steve “Papa Stevebo” Borden; Christy and Ken Poston; George Poston; Hunter Poston and her grandmothers, Joyce Sharpe of Saluda, SC and Ethel Vereen of Lexington, SC. Kristi is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her grandfather, James Sharpe.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday November 29, 2021 at the Lakeside Gazebo at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mr. Wayne Sharpe will officiate. Interment in Woodridge Memorial Park will follow the service. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the Gazebo at Woodridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kristen Harmon Scholarship through USC Aiken.
