Obituary of Madeline Yongue Allen

Final rites for Madeline Yongue Allen were held Saturday, December 11, 2010. Madeline was born in Florence, SC, but raised in Columbia. She was married to her one true love, the late Melvin F. Allen for nearly 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Thurlow G. and Alma O. Yongue, She was pre-deceased by her brothers Norman Yongue and Henry Yongue. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances Allen (Frank) Morrow of Lexington and Donna Allen (Jimmy) Gooding of Lexington. Her grandchildren were very special to her: Lynne Morris of Myrtle Beach; Todd Cook of West Columbia; Lorri (Bobby) Moorer of Lexington; Susan Battles of Lexington; Lisa Matthews of West Columbia and Michael (Mickey) Gooding of Batesburg and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a member of New Hope Christian Fellowship and retired with 30 years service at Columbia College where she was presented the Gold Medallion Award for outstanding service. She was an active member of several organizations before her illness. Madeline loved the Lord Jesus and when she could no longer remember any of her family, she could still sing 'Jesus Loves Me' with her daughter Frances. She was a 'good Samaritan' in every way and was always willing to help someone in need. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In lieu of flowers memorials/donations may be made to Twilite Manor Adult Residential Care, 2306 Forrest Road, Cayce, SC 29033, or South Lexington Baptist Church 'Building Fund', 116 Brevard Parkway, Lexington, SC 29073. The family has entrusted Woodridge Funeral Home with the arrangements.
