Obituary of John Ed Beck

John Ed Beck, 66, of Columbia, SC, joined his Lord while in Hospice care at Palmetto Richland Hospital on May 1, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family. John was born on May 1, 1946 to Ruby Wilson Beck and the late Melvin Edward Beck in Augusta, Georgia. Retired from Real Estate sales, John was an active member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church where he was both an elder and deacon. He also served the Lord through local and foreign missions and Twelve Step Fellowship. John was a dedicated family man and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherry Jinks Beck of Columbia; two daughters Stacy Bradfield (Ryun) of Tigard, Oregon and Bonnie Phifer (Pete) of Columbia; four grandsons John Wesley and Levi Phifer, Payton and Heath Bradfield. John is also survived by his mother Ruby Beck of Albany, Georgia; brother Jimmie Beck (Linda) of Tampa, Florida; sister Suzanne Colvin (Terry) of Albany Georgia; beloved nieces Shannon (Dennis) Griffin and their children Ian and Brianna Griffin and Jennifer (Scott) Keller and their daughter Savanna Keller. He will be missed by many. A memorial service to celebrate John?s life will take place on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 3 P.M in the Forrest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 North Trenholm Road Columbia, SC. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. Memorials may be made in John?s memory to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church or to the Providence Men?s Shelter 3423 ½ N. Main Street Columbia, SC.
