Obituary of Jack Weldon Hyman

Jack Weldon Hyman, Sr., 70, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012, after a long battle with throat cancer. Jack was born in Roanoke, VA on February 12, 1942. After he graduated from high school in Hampton, VA, he joined the Army and served as a Paratrooper for 4 years and then as a personnel clerk for 4 years; he also served in Vietnam. When he left the service he worked in sales, working for Sonny Hall for 20 years. After retiring, he worked with Ards shuttle service at the airport. Mr. Hyman belonged to the Masonic Lodge and the Jamil Temple. One of his greatest joys was his little dog, Cinnamon. He loved people and enjoyed talking to people. Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia Hyman; two children, Jack W. Hyman, Jr. (Pam) of Fayetteville, NC and his daughter, Deborah Foster (Bill) of Plymouth, MA; grandsons, Keith Harrison, Dominic Hyman, Jaden Hyman and Shawn Foster (Mary); granddaughter, Tiffany Snell; great granddaughter, Makala Foster; sister, Barbara Edmonds; brother, Craig Hyman (Lisa); sister-in-law, Shirley Carpenter (Bob); brother-in-law, Richard Cotillo (Kathy); and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Hyman is also survived by his best friend, Billy, who was a comfort to him during his illness. Mr. Hyman was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Childress and father, Fred Hyman, Sr.,; brother, Fred Hyman, Jr., step-father, Stuart Childress; granddaughter, Desiree Jasmin Hyman and brother-in-law, Billy Edmonds. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. on Friday, November 30th, 1201 Mohawk Dr., West Columbia. Reverend Phil Lavender will be officiating. The family will meet in the fellowship hall after the service. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Madden and the nurses from Tri-County Hospice, especially Nancy and Anne and his social worker, Debbie.
