Obituary of Robert S. Hinson

A memorial service for Robert S. Hinson, 83, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, SC. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family. Robert, son of the late Rena Hinson and Ross Hinson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Robert was a loving father and friend to all that met him. He was a ?jack of all trades?, as most would say. Robert spent most of his early years working and living the farm life in Charleston, SC. He set off to see the world and serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He settled in Columbia, SC, where he demonstrated his mastery as a watch repairman, jeweler, plumber, craftsman, and even mistaken as Santa to the eyes of many little children. Robert was a proud father of his daughters, Rena and Amber, who blessed him with six grandsons. He enjoyed spending time and sharing stories of fishing and how things were in the good ole days. He enjoyed sharing his artistic talent of leather working. He was eager to show anyone the pride and love that he had through his wonderful work. Robert is survived by his daughters, Rena Hinson and Amber Wingard (Brandon) and six grandsons, Dexter Gates (Taryn), Dallas Gates, Tommy Gordon, Dylan Gates, Austin Wingard and Collin Wingard and his furry companion, Little Bit. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Rena Hinson, father, Ross Hinson, brothers, Harold Hinson and J. W. Hinson, and an infant sister. Daddy, Robert, Pops, Papa will continue to be loved and missed by all.
