Obituary of Hector Silva

Hector Silva, 89, of West Columbia, died on December 18, 2012. Born on June 5, 1923 in Acumbaro, Mexico, he was the son of the late Manuel and Avelina Silva. He attended the University of Mexico, Mexico City, where he received a Masters degree in Chemistry. He was a research chemist for Republic Steel in Cleveland, Ohio, and later for Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He and his wife retired to Sun City, Florida in 1985, and then West Columbia in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Grace Summerfield Silva, two sons, Victor Silva of Millersport, Ohio, and Robert Silva of Columbia, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Woodridge Funeral Home Mausoleum Chapel 138 Corley Mill Rd. Lexington SC on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at The Village Center, Agape Village Court.
