Obituary of Cheryl Whitehead Berry

COLUMBIA: Graveside service for Cheryl Whitehead Berry, 66, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Reverend Debra Quilling-Smith. The family will gather in the Community Room of Greenlawn Funeral Home to celebrate her life following the service. Mrs. Berry passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Born in Cayce, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charles White and Alice Harvin White. Cheryl was a lifelong resident of the Midlands. She grew up in Cayce; part of a loving family with many close friends. She graduated From Brookland Cayce High School in 1964 and Winthrop College in 1966. Cheryl was a local top model for Millie Lewis. She was also a beloved teacher at Columbia Junior College where she taught fashion merchandising, inspiring students both in the classroom and in real life. After completing her work at a local law firm (Turner, Padgett, Graham and Laney), she embraced her role as wife and mother. Surviving is her husband of 26 years, David Scott Berry; daughter, Chryssie Whitehead of Los Angeles, CA; son, Kirk Whitehead of Florida; grandchildren, Alexis, Anastasia, and Kara Grace Whitehead; her former husband, Donald Whitehead; and a large and loving extended family. The family would like to thank the staff of Agape for their compassionate care, especially Brittany Jeffcoat, who was Cheryl?s Hospice Angel.
