Obituary of William Thorn Hayne

COLUMBIA: A memorial service celebrating the life of Billy Hayne, 67, will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at St Johns Episcopal Church, 1151 Elm Savannah Road, Hopkins SC. Family and friends are invited to join the family at their home following the service. A private burial with the family will be held at a later date. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Billy passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Born August 26, 1945 in Columbia SC, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Isaac Hayne of Eastover SC. Billy was a proud member of American Legion Post 6 and was in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968, honorably serving his country in Vietnam. He also served in the Marine Barracks "8th & I" in Washington DC, the oldest active post in the Marine Corps, passing his legacy to his son Adams, who later served the same post. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Deborah Frost Hayne originally of Lancaster SC, and their children, Paula Hayne Bowers (Rob) and Adams Thorn Hayne (Julie), cherished grandchildren Sarah, Alex, Evelyn Grace, Paul and Boyd, as well as sisters Cecile Johnstone (Mac), Alicia Mikell (Jenks), Ellen King (Spencer) and brothers Isaac Hayne and Theodore Hayne. The family would like to thank everyone for their loving support.
