Captain Edmond Plante

Obituary of Captain Rene Edmond Plante

Captain Rene E. Plante, United States Navy (retired), was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 29, 1932 to Anaclet J.A. Plante and Albina Plante. In the year 2018, on May 18th, at the age 85, with love in his heart for everyone, he exited this world from West Columbia, South Carolina. CAPT Plante proudly left behind him the spirit of who and what he was before the door of earthy life gently closed behind him and a new horizon shown upon his face. The above was written by Rene Plante prior to his death. His family adds that he lived his life by this philosophy: "It is not the car that you drive, it is not the house you live in, and it is not the money you have in the bank. It is PEOPLE! Therefore: Do whatever you can, for whomever you can, whenever you can, wherever you can, with whatever you have--and not when it is convenient or painless to you." Captain Plante is now reunited in death with his late wife, Cecile Plante and middle child, Anthony Rene Plante. He is survived by his son, Paul Albert Joseph Plante MD of Blythewood; daughter, Annette Amelie Plante RN of West Columbia; his new found love, Faye Goldberg Miller; four grandchildren, one great grandson, and extremely loving friends and extended family. A eulogy will be spoken by family and friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington at 3 p.m.
