Obituary of Jolie Smith Moskel

Jolie Smith Moskel - Lexington, S.C. — Jolie S. Moskel, age 67, of South Carolina, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 2, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Douglas and Martha (Huffman) Smith. Jolie was a graduate of Delaware Hayes High School, Delaware, OH in 1968 and from Ambassador College, Pasadena, California in 1973 earning a degree in education. After raising her family and homeschooling her children for a short while, Jolie returned to school, attending Columbia International University, obtaining her master's degree in counseling in 2001. In 2002, Jolie opened up a counseling practice in Columbia, South Carolina where she served as a therapist specializing in family counseling with an emphasis on veterans and their families. Jolie was a deeply spiritual person, daily reading her Bible and spending time in prayer. Her deep faith brought her to a number of meaningful Bible Studies, some of which she served as the leader. Jolie was kind-hearted, passionate, intelligent, inquisitive, and full of life especially when playing with her grandchildren. Jolie was an accomplished pianist, artist (painter), enjoyed making jewelry and decorating her home. She enjoyed being outdoors and spending time in her garden. Jolie was well read and was constantly challenging herself to learn. She was dedicated to her family and loved unconditionally. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jesse (Carol) Moskel, Ben (Casey) Moskel, Daniel Moskel; grandchildren Becket, Makenna, Lincoln, Piper and Delaney Moskel; siblings, Doug (Sally) Smith of Sunbury, OH[a], Becky (Rick) Fair of Delaware, OH and nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Molly Rebecca Moskel. A celebration of Jolie's life will be held from 1PM - 5PM on Sunday, February 18th at the the River Center at Saluda Shoals 5605 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
