Obituary of Arline Bracebridge Marley

Obituary Arline Bracebridge Marley was born to Clyde and Mildred Hendrick in Saginaw, Michigan, on January 5, 1934. She passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017, in Lexington, South Carolina. Arline was a beloved pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was known as a woman of strong faith in God and was an avid prayer warrior. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served her faith community in a variety of roles from kindergarten teacher to choir director and deaconess. She had a great heart for hospitality, and her home was always open to anyone in need. In 1954 she married her academy (high school) sweetheart, Clarence "Bud" Bracebridge in San Bernardino County, California. Together they pastored churches in Michigan, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Bud transitioned from the role of pastor to serving as one of two civilian chaplains for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, based in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1987 they moved to Washington, D.C., where Bud served as director of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries and Arline worked in the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Auditing Department. Arline's passion for music was borne out in her involvement in the Melodyaires, a quartet that performed throughout the South for many years. She owned and operated a large ceramic shop and loved painting and creating wall art. Writing and directing plays were also important parts of her life and ways she served the church. She also served as a secretary in various legal and real estate firms in South Carolina. Arline was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Mildred Hendrick, brother Jack (John) and her loving husband of 37 years, Clarence "Bud" Bracebridge, who fell asleep in Jesus in 1991. Subsequently she was married to Pastor Horace Ace Redding in 2001. Horace passed away in 2006. In 2010 she married Pastor Everett Marley who was laid to rest in 2013. She is survived by her sister, a brother, three children, seven grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. at the Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 243 Riverchase Way, Lexington, SC.
