Obituary of Pauline Johnson Logan

Pauline Johnson Logan, 89, of Columbia, affectionately known as Snookie to her family and Polly to her friends, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017. Polly was born February 7, 1928 in Montpelier, Vermont to Major General Harry Warren and Pauline Ann Johnson. Polly attended the University of Heidelberg as a young woman and in her later years attended the University of South Carolina where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English followed by a Master's degree in Library Science, a field she loved and worked in throughout her life. She was also a correspondence professor of Children's Literature at USC until she retired. Polly was a loving mother, wife, sister and friend and she will be remembered for her love of words, her passion for learning, her love of the beach, her wonderful sense of humor and her beautiful smile. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband Donald S. Logan and her younger sisters Helen (Patty) Dixon and Nancy Hume, brother-in-law Colonel James Dixon and sister-in-law Ellen Johnson. Polly is survived and remembered with love by her children, Michael Collins of Charlottesville, VA and Melinda Collins and her fiancé David Duke of Columbia, SC; her brother, Harry (Gus) Johnson; 14 nieces and nephews; close family friends including her best friend of forty years Georgia Seeman and those she was a second mother to. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the charity of your choice. A private memorial service will be held in Pawleys Island, SC for family members and close family friends.
