Obituary of Carl David Miller

Carl David Miller, 70, of Irmo, SC has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was diagnosed and lost his life in just four short months. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Glen David Miller and Helen Hileman Miller, and also his wife of 20 years, Carol Jean Miller. Carl is survived by his adoring children Joshua Glen (Heather) Miller, Jordan David Miller, and Maggie Jean Miller. He is also survived by his three grandchildren who he loved to the moon and beyond: Bryson David, Blakley Grace, and Lena Jade. Three tight knit sisters have also lost their beloved brother: Dona (John C. B.) Smith, Deborah (Dr. Robert) Schulze, and Rebekah (Howard) Farber, along with a large and extended family of nieces and nephews who will miss their super cool Uncle Carl. Carl was a Graphic Designer in the advertising business in Columbia for many years and worked on projects as widespread as the Aiken Steeplechase, WIS-TV, sporting goods and real estate. He attended the University of South Carolina but became an avid and life long Clemson Tiger fan. He was passionate about music and sang in early local bands The Funky Bunch, The Counts and The Journeymen. He was enthralled with life in the West and spent the last few years of his life riding horses and "cowboying" in California. This disease ravaged him quickly and his family is grateful to the knowledgeable staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates for their excellent guidance and care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to SCOA Cares Foundation which provides support for uninsured and underinsured cancer patients in the local community www.scoacares.org. Carl will be missed by an extensive community of friends, neighbors, and colleagues nationwide. But by none more than us, his family who loved him with all our hearts. He was sweet and kind and compassionate and his memory will be a blessing to us always.
