Obituary of James Moore

James H. "Jim" Moore, 84, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Communication. Before coming to Columbia, Jim had worked a number of years in commercial radio, last announcing at WTOC in Savannah. In 1975, he moved from commercial radio into State supported private radio for the blind, as Radio Program Producer for the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, and he retired from there in 2000. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Settle Moore; son, Paul Franklin Moore; sister, Mae (Martin) Essick of Columbia; niece, Diane E Norris of Raleigh; and nephew, David Wayne Essick of Columbia. A Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in The Boyce Chapel at First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. Rev. Richard Humphries, Pastoral Care & Senior Adult Minister and Rev. Steve Phillips, Associate Pastor & Music Minister will be officiating.
