Obituary of Bettie C. Richardson

Lexington- Bettie C. Richardson of Lexington, wife of Hal R. Richardson, went to be with the Lord with her family by her side on Sunday, April 9, 2017. She was born on September 12, 1936 in Marion County, SC to the late Donnie C. and Mary A. Cribb. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church since 1994, and sang in the adult choir. Bettie grew up in the low country of SC where she graduated from Brittons Neck High school. She moved to Columbia and graduated from Columbia Commercial College. After many years in the Insurance industry, Bettie retired after serving 30 years at Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company as vice president of underwriting. In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Bettie is survived by three children; Cynthia Richardson of Blythewood, Pamela (Mike) Griffin and Tanya (Steve) Mabry of Lexington; brothers Donnie (Ann) Cribb Jr. and Robert (Lorna) Cribb; grandchildren Jordan Taylor, Logan Taylor, Allison Mabry and Jacob Mabry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Mabry. The family will receive friends at St. Andrews Baptist Church on Thursday, April 13 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Memorial service will follow at the church at 3:00 pm. Pastor Ronald "Dee" Vaughan will officiate. Private burial services will be held at Woodridge Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff of Dogwood Trail at Carroll Campbell Place and Compassionate Care Hospice for their care, love and support during Bettie's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Baptist Church, Financial Freedom Fund, 230 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC 29210.
