Obituary of Steven Elliott Wyatt

Columbia-Steven Elliott Wyatt passed away April 4, 2017 peacefully at his home with his wife by his side after a brief illness of leukemia. Steve was born in Gaffney SC on August 24, 1950 to the late Archie Elliott Wyatt and Olavine Nash Wyatt. He graduated from Gaffney High School where he played baseball and basketball. He received his BS degree in Education from the University of South Carolina. In 1972 he was honorably discharged from the US Army as a Specialist 5. He enjoyed watching all sports with the Gamecocks and NY Yankees being his favorite teams. He was a member of Mid Carolina Club and looked forward to the annual golf trips to the beach. He met his special buddies Curtis and Tommy every morning for coffee to discuss national issues and sports. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Leslie Gray Wyatt, who adored him, brother-in-law, Billy Simmons, nephew Scott Simmons, niece Katie and husband Eric Wieberg. Father and mother-in-law John and Joan Gray, Brothers-in-law John Jr and Jim Gray, niece Jennifer Gray and husband Joe Knox and nephew John Riley Gray, 2 great nephews and 2 great nieces. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Notie Nash, sister Jackie Simmons, brothers Scotty and Michael Wyatt, sister-in-law LeAnne Gray. Memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Leukemia Society 107 West Park Blvd Suite 150 Columbia SC 29210 or Palmetto Health Hospice 1400 Pickens St Columbia SC 29201. Leslie would like to express her love and gratitude for the wonderful care from the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice, nurses Jeannie and Freia, Joye and Pastor Charles, and the love and support of all our family and friends. Steve you are the love of my life and I will miss you terribly.
