Obituary of Phyllis Jean Rice

PHYLLIS JEAN RICE - Lexington - Funeral services for Phyllis J. Rice, 75, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Entombment in the Woodridge Mausoleum will follow the service. The family will greet friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington. Mrs. Rice passed away Friday, March 10, 2017. Born in Kannapolis, NC, she was a daughter of the late J.B. Rodden and Carolene Annie Nunn Rodden. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family, and was devoted to her Christian faith. She was employed for many years in Richmond, VA by the American Tobacco Company. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William E. Rice, Jr.; son, Richard W. Rice (Tracey) of Lexington; daughter, Sherry Lynn Oyler of Myrtle Beach; 4 grandchildren; sister, Linda Higgs (Tommy) of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Robbie Williams (Sharon) of Lincolnton, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Gary Williams.
