Marlene Downing Marks, 85, resident of Leesville, widow of John William Marks, passed away on June 28, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Born April 29, 1936 in Mill City, OR, she was the daughter of the late Roy John and Ruby Tietze Downing. Marlene spent an early part of her career in the financial industry until she retired. Following her retirement, she loved spending her time sewing and knitting. She was a loving wife, mother,grandmother and great-grandmother who was very proud of her family and loved them unselfishly. She instilled the love of family to all she met.

The family is thankful for Marlene's close neighbors and friends for the meals, yardwork, visiting with her and for other acts of kindess and concern they provided for her, especially after John passed away.

Marlene is survived by a son, Jeff Marks (Lauren) of Lexington; a daughter, Janet Twitty of Lexington, a sister, Irene Hannah of Oregon and grandchildren; Jeffrey Marks, Jr., Jennifer Lynn Marks, Earron Joseph Twitty and John Cameron Twitty and great-grandaugher, Esmeralda Rivera Wilkes. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 9th, 2021 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel.  Burial will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park.
