Steve was perhaps the most loving and thoughtful human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He guided me and challenged me in amazing ways as a teenager. He even came to my wedding and took beautiful photos unasked. They were vastly superior to the photos that our official photographer took.
Peace to all.

Sam and I are sending our deepest condolences and much love to you , SHARON, and the boys. We remember your visit with us in Covington , Georgia , when your oldest was just a baby. Sweet memories of both of you at Carmel Presbyterian in Charlotte. Praying for you all as you deal with the loss of such a great husband and father.

Back when Sharon was a student @Madison, I drove my van up there to meet him so that we could go to Lowe's for him to buy the necessary wood to make Sharon a loft in her dorm room. He was a great guy, we had fun that weekend, and he and Sharon went on to have a great family and successful marriage. I am so sorry for the great loss that everyone has suffered. I am praying for Sharon especially now.

We were so sorry to hear of Steve's passing..... A great memory of him was when we worked on helping a family in the mid 1990's, who had a lot of needs. Of course Steve was all in, and subsequently touched many lives with his loving, relational approach. he was a larger- than- life Christian, who reminded me of the Jim Elliot quote- "where ever you are, be all there". You run across a handful of people in life of whom you can say, as in Hebrews, "the world was not worthy"- he was one! Mike and Leslie Adkins

Maria and I are so sorry to learn of Steve's passing. I remember working with him on LDN....how smart he was and on fire for Christ. He was so intentionally organized, and I know he helped LDN out tremendously. He was other-centered. We enjoyed you all at NEPC and know you have done so much for Midtown. God bless you through this difficult time. Our prayers are with you. Craig and Maria Currey

I was sorry sorry to hear about Steve's passing. We worked together for many years at BCBSSC. When he started there it seemed like he was just a young kid. But even then, he was the ultimate professional. Always kind, always smiling. Much love and prayers to Sharon and the family as they remember and honor his life.

There are many wonderful memories of Steve over the years. My earliest was shortly after I joined BCBSSC shortly before Jesse was born. One of my co-workers scheduled a meeting with our team and Steve indicating there was a problem we needed to discuss with him. The real purpose was to give Steve a gift for the baby. While Steve was appreciative of the gift, it was obvious that he did not appreciate being scheduled for a deceptive meeting. Steve was a professional. One of the nicest guys around, but definitely professional. It has always been easy to respect Steve in all aspects of life. He will definitely be missed, but he has left quite a legacy for all of us.

This is the last photo that I photographed of Steve. The photo shows how supportive Steve was of Sharon's music career. Steve was often seen in the background photographing, managing the sound board, or other tasks involved in making the show a success. The photograph was taken at Good Life Café - Columbia, SC. - on 11-21-16. Sharon was the feature musician for Magnified Magnolias.

Debi Mazar once said, " A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares." This quote describes Steve Von Fange. Steve was a wonderful man. He loved God, Sharon, his family, and friends. He was a people person who would help anyone in need. Steve and Sharon often surprised people with gifts. He was a man who supported his church, his family, his friends, music community, photographers, and other groups. Steve was a phenomenal photographer and wonderful friend. Thank you for the camera, help with Bruce's Songversation, and all the wonderful things you did on this earth. You will be missed. Though, I would like to think that you will always be with us in heart, spirit, and memory.
May the Lord bless Sharon and the Von Fange Family during this sad time. RIP - Steve.
