Obituary of Michael Eugene Duckworth

MICHAEL E. DUCKWORTH, 72 Michael Eugene Duckworth, 72, passed away peacefully on his birthday, Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Lexington, South Carolina. Born in Anderson, Indiana, he was the son of late Paul Eugene Duckworth and Frances Duckworth Clark. In 1963 Mike graduated from Anderson High School. He then worked for 32 years as a Millwright at Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Emanuel Methodist Church in Pendleton, Indiana and a Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Anderson, Indiana. Mike was also a member of the Anderson Bass Chasers. Shortly after his retirement, Mike moved to the State of South Carolina to be close to his children and grandchildren. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and was always there to help family, friends and neighbors with projects or whatever else they may need. One of Mike's favorite things in life was being close to the water whether that be an ocean or lake. Mike spent a lot of his spare time renovating boats and was a very active participant in the lives of his grandchildren. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Vance Duckworth; daughter Michelle Duckworth Wright and her husband Reed of Lexington, South Carolina; son Michael B. Duckworth of Lexington, South Carolina; grandchildren Richard Taylor Lineberry, Garret Lee Wright, Taylor Brock Duckworth; sisters Kathy Leisure Vermillion of Chesterfield, Indiana and Debbie Dollar Lineberry of Anderson, Indiana; brother Ted Clark of Anderson, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his brother, Gary Lee Duckworth of Anderson, Indiana. Cremation will be performed at Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington, South Carolina.
