Obituary of Faye Farmer Boseman

Alice Faye Farmer Boseman will be laid to rest in Woodridge Memorial Park on Friday, June 18 at 11:00 am in a private family ceremony. Alice Faye Farmer Boseman died on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from CNS Brain Cancer. Faye was born in Darlington County on January 5, 1943.

She attended St. John’s Grammar School and High School, and graduated in 1961. While attending St. John’s High School, she loved music and often performed soprano solos with the St. John’s High School Choir, under the direction of the famous Giles Salvo. She received many honors and recognitions for her talents. She was a member of the Anchor Club and enjoyed socializing and working on projects with her girlfriends. She was an active young lady who was also a member of the Future Teachers Association, Junior-Senior Committee, Class Treasurer, and was even an Office Proctor. She earned the Senior Superlative of “Most Talented”. In her junior year, she met the love of her life, James Boseman. During her senior year, Faye was crowned “Miss Darlington 1961”.

After graduating from St. John’s High School, Faye went off to Coker College to major in music and attended for one year. She returned to Darlington, SC to begin her lifelong bookkeeping career. She continued to date Mr. Boseman until 1963, when he asked for her hand in marriage. James and Faye were married on October 25, 1964. They set up their home in Darlington, SC and in 1966 welcomed their first daughter, Kymberly Allyson, into the world. They welcomed another lovely daughter in 1969, Robin Elizabeth. Faye was a devoted mother. She was her daughters’ greatest cheerleader all of their lives and told them to always aim high. She was an excellent role model of a working mother in the early 60’s and was a believer that a woman could do any job that a man could. After her workday, she rushed home to make sure that her girls had completed all of their homework and any chores.  The Bosemans resided in Darlington, SC until 1976.

The Bosemans moved to Columbia, SC in 1976 so that James could begin his career at Ebert Sportswear and Faye to advance her bookkeeping career at the state office of the American Cancer Society. Subsequently, she moved on to Zion & Co. Tax Preparation and Pinnacle Tax Company. Faye also had her Notary Public license. Upon her retirement, Faye was able to focus all of her love and attention on to her precious grandson, Coleman Michael Orlick. James and Faye spent many happy years caring for, spoiling, and watching him grow. He was and will always be her pride and joy.

Faye is survived by her husband, James Howard Boseman; daughters, Kymberly Boseman Dunson and Robin Boseman Orlick; their husbands, Dan Coleman Dunson and Steven Michael Orlick; as well as her grandson, Coleman Michael Orlick.

Faye was predeceased by her parents, Coddell Heyward Farmer and Alice Hutchinson Farmer Jackson and her sister, Dianne Farmer Smith.
