Obituary of Donna Jean Peck

Services for Donna Jean Peck, age 61, will be held on Wednesday, October 26th, beginning at 11 a.m., at The Harvest, 4865 Sunset Boulevard in Lexington, with burial to follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, October 25th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Ms. Peck passed away in Charleston, on Tuesday, October 18th, surrounded by family. Born in Charleston, she was the daughter of Gordon and Marjorie Graham Peck. After moving to Houston, Texas in 1976, Donna began a career with the Houston Police Department as a civilian in the Narcotics Division. She graduated from the Houston Police Academy, Class #90, in 1980, where she began her long and storied career as a Houston Police officer until she retired in July 2004. In that time she worked in Dispatch, North Shepherd Patrol, Narcotics, Juvenile Sex Crimes, and Vice Divisions. During her time as an officer, she was also involved in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run as a runner and was one of the top fundraisers in the State of Texas for several years; she helped pioneer a program for the Department to educate police officers in American Sign Language, in order to better serve the deaf community in Houston; and was a member of the Houston Police Department's Honor Guard. After retiring, she moved to West Columbia, where she later joined the Lexington County Sheriff's Department as a civilian. She was a member of The Harvest, in Lexington, SC, donating her time as a member of the Guest Services Committee. She is predeceased by both her mother and father and is survived by her two children, Heather Brancatelli (David) and Ashley Crum; four grandchildren, Ilana, Lila, Adriano, and Emilia; numerous cousins; and brothers and sisters in blue.
