Losing someone we love is nothing easy, but knowing that we have been able to be apart of the life of that person, we can realize that we are fortunate to have been able to share in her life. May God embrace you in comfort during this difficult time. I would like to leave this Bible thought. The God of comfort invites us at 1 Peter 5:7:" Give all your worries and cares to him, for he cares about you.

I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences.
While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God's promises found in the Bible you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces".

My special, special sister, my beloved Esther! When I think of you, all I can do is smile! You gave so much to everyone. As I read what everyone says about you, all I can do is smile because it causes me to see they got to know you too. The following words describe you to a "T." KIND, LOVING, GIVING, FUNNY, JOYFUL, SMART, WISE,A TEACHER, BEAUTIFUL, and a hundred other things. So many years you shared the "Gentle Butterfly" I saw in you. Wherever you landed you brought goodness and joy with you and kissed everyone around you with it. You made everyone feel special! And now I know it's true...The LORD loves you the best! He came to take you to His glorious throne before me! I always told you He loved you best! Now don't forget to put in a good word for us all and we will meet you at the gates of Heaven soon enough! Catch our hugs and kisses, Little One! Here they come! Betty & Ron

To Larry and family, Jim and I are so sadden to hear of the passing of Esther and we know that Heaven truly gained an angel. We cherish the times that we spent with Esther and her laughter will continue on in Heaven. Our prayers are with you and your family during this time. Larry and family,
We fondly remember Esther as a loving and kind person who was always joyful and fun to be around. She loved her family and friends and always had a kind word for everyone.
The tributes that have been listed speak more than anything we could add to honor your life companion. May God comfort you in knowing that she loved the Lord and is now in His loving arms.

It's with a heavy heart that I pen this, as learned this morning that you had received your call from our Lord to receive your Angel Wings and you are now peacefully at rest in the arms of our Lord.
Ester, you have been in my life since I was a young boy in diapers who showed up at your door looking to play with your girls. You have always loved me unconditionally and I know that I am family. Your support throughout the years no matter how far away my path took me was and is comforting to me. I will take with me your ever present smile, your love, your hearty laugh and your eternal optimism for life. No matter the situation, your positiveness, especially these last few years, is indicative of your faith and strength.
We know you are rejoicing with the Lord, please know that Sally, Quinn Maree, Sophie, Sarah and I are rejoicing just as much for having had you be a part of our lives. You have effected everyone you came in contact with in your life here on Earth with love, patience and kindness and we are better people for having been associated with you…we love you!

My family shared many meals and fun visits with Esther, Larry, and the girls when we lived in the area 35 years ago. Esther also was the one who took me to the hospital to have my second child while my husband was out of town. She was a wonderful friend who could always be counted on in good times and bad. The world has lost a fine woman.

There are so many things I would want people to know about my Mamma. I could tell you how she made most of our (mine and Kira's) clothes when we were young, how she could crotchet, quilt, cook, paint, draw, garden, cross stitch...how she had so many talents it was almost unreal. I could tell you how she loved to cook chili or beef stew on really cold days, or how she tried to make at least 100 toll house cookies on Christmas Eve, or how she used every ounce of patience to try to teach me to quilt, or how her favorite smells in the world were hot doughnuts, the first snow and the first blossoms of spring. I could tell you how she loved to watch football or boxing. I could tell you that her favorite tree was the pink dogwood that Dad planted for her. I could tell you how she loved roses, but she had a hard time growing them and that the last thing she planted was a Empress Tree and named it EM and how she talked to the little tree and tried to convince it to grow bigger and stronger. I could tell you about her green thumb and how she really believed that her home grown vegetables were better for us than store bought ones, or how she walked around in old combat boots with a weapon on her hip for a week after she saw a snake in the yard. I could tell you how she was not afraid of much, but she really hated spiders. I could tell you how she hated horror films but could watch old black and white movies ALL DAY! I could tell you how she never met a stranger in this world and she loved to talk with people to get to know their stories. Complete strangers would just gravitate toward her beautiful smile and her infectious laughter.
I could tell you so many things about her, but she would say NONE of these things really matter. There were only two things in life that really mattered to Mom, all of the rest was just gravy to her. The first was her personal relationship with God her Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. The second thing that mattered most to Mom was her relationship with her family and those people who were closest to her heart.
The most important lesson in life that Mom taught me is that no matter my problem, no matter my situation, no matter the mountain in front of me, Jesus is the answer. He is the ONLY answer I'll ever need. Over the years, I have brought countless problems to her and Mom's answer was always the same, she pulled out the Word of God and placed it in front of me. I know Mamma is in heaven with Jesus, she is not suffering, she is not in pain. Mom taught me that even in the worst moment of my life (presently Oct. 18th at 10AM), if i have Jesus, I have ALL I need. This is were the rubber meets the road for me…I believe that even though it was the worst moment of my life for me, it was the best that Jesus had to offer me at that moment. It's my job to have faith in Him, that even in the worst moments in life, even when I'm suffering and in pain, I am still in the palm of His hands and He will not fail me, He will not forsake me, He will never leave me alone.
When someone we love gets to graduate to Heaven, it is easy to focus on our loss, because that is human nature; but, that is not the answer for me. Mom taught me that I'm never alone because I have Jesus; He is in me and around me and He loves me way more than Mom ever could. That knowlege is the greatest lesson and the greatest gift Mom ever gave me.

Esther came here in 1969 with Larry to help take care of mom and 6 of us kids still at home after our dad passed away. She brought so much joy and happiness to our family through out the years. We shared so many memories together and much much laughter. One example Esther new to the Lower Richland area and not familiar with the roads. So Kathy and I took her on a wild ride through a favorite shortcut in her little orange porche. The three of us flying and squealing at the top of our lungs running from the law down RABBIT RUN in lower Richland. Another Example like dropping off urine at Dr Rex Dillinhams office thru a door slot for her to have a pregnancy test. We just knew that glass bottle probably busted all over the floor. We laughed all the way to work. It did not bust and the laughter did die down, and the shock did set in, and the twins were born in June 1974 and my other big brother Terry and Peggy welcomed Brian that Agust and my daughter Bridgete was born that November in 1974. We had our own little BRAT pack back then. Kira Andrea Brian Bridgete all had the best times growing up together. Esther was there to teach them to swim and we all shared in teaching our brat pack how to laugh and love and to know how important family is.The love she had for us and all of our children, and as our kids had children and our families grew, she had such a sweet place in all their hearts and lives as well. It is so apparent in my many photos but mostly in my heart and my mind. Love you Esther and so look forward to seeing you again when I to cross over the river Jordan and together we will walk with Jesus on those streets of gold.

Esther became my sister in law when I was five. I didn't realize until after I married how much she had to share Larry when they moved to Columbia from California when Daddy died. Larry took care of Mom's needs and they both did things for and with me. When I think of Esther, I hear her laughter and stories. She was full of life. Her love of making beautiful things was passed down to her daughters and she patiently taught my girls to piece together quilt pillows and other things. We are blessed to have some of her handmade things around our home.
In the last three months I emailed almost daily with Esther. We shared many scriptures and songs. When I went through a health crisis she was encouraging me even as she was going through so much physical suffering herself. Her outlook was always positive and she gave the Lord, Jesus credit for every day He gave her to breathe one more breath. I will miss her as a sister in family and in faith. May those who read this find the hope in Jesus that Esther was relying on as her days ended on this earth. Ephesians 2:8-9. "For by grace we are saved through faith and not of ourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, so that no man can boast." Angie Hermanson
