Obituary of James Franklin Wright

James "Jimmy" Franklin Wright, 58, of Lexington went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 10, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with a terminal illness. He was born July 30, 1957 in Rockingham, North Carolina. Jimmy married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gail, on May 14, 1978. They enjoyed 38 years of marriage and had two children, Jamie and Justin. He was and will always be his wife's soulmate, his daughter's hero and his son's best friend. He worked for more than 38 years in the construction industry, and started several successful companies. He loved Jesus and was devoted to sharing the gospel. He taught Sunday school for more than 20 years and also served as a deacon. An avid hunter and angler, his favorite place to be was on the lake fishing with family and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, Pop, son, brother and friend. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Gail Wright; daughter, Jamie Rekers (Timothy); son, Justin Wright (Nicole); grandchildren, Ethan, Eli and Liza Rekers; parents, Mark and Nancy Wright; sister, Carolyn Boland (Randy); brother, David Wright; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greeted in Heaven by his father-in-law, Robert "Kingfish" Kendall Crawford and grandbabies, Adley and Benjamin Rekers. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Lexington, 415 Barr Rd, Lexington, SC 29072 with the Rev. Ralph Schneck and the Rev. Kurt Geib officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial is private. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lexington. A heartfelt thank you from the family to Dr. Henry Martin, Dr. Donald Schmechel and Hospice Care of Tri-County for their exceptional medical care. Pallbearers: Tripp Bell, Brian Dix, Jack Freeman Jr., Blake Freeman, Jason Gilbert, Steve Martin Jr., Craig Shady and Jason Spears. Honorary Pallbearers: Chris Barber, Billy DuRant, Wayne Jones, Ted Koon, Ricky Price, Ben Satcher, Wayne Steele, Chuck Talbert, Rick Thain and Marshall West.
