Obituary of Robert Harold Morrison

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Harold Morrison on June 15, 2016. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family. Bob was surrounded by his family in his home at the time of his passing. Robert was born in Somerville Mass on August 20, 1942, to the late Roger John Morrison and Rita Dorothy (Paragoni) Hayes. At a very young age he set out on his own to make his own life with his childhood sweetheart. Bob and DiAnn met while roller skating at the local skating rink and were married on May 4, 1963 at St. Patrick's Church in Mystic Connecticut. Bob started his own business, Robert H. Morrison and Daughters Drywall Construction Company in the 1960's and continued for 43 years. Through the years, Bob was involved in numerous local organizations, including, Groton Elks Club, Knights of Columbus in Mystic, Mystic Bowling Team, Groton Long Point Beach Volley Ball, Groton Town Planning and Nutmeg Fife and Drum Corps with his daughters. Besides being a business man and his various activities in the community, his favorite time was spent was with his family enjoying roller skating with his girls, church functions, boating, and skiing. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years DiAnn Alaine (Bailey) Morrison, his three daughters, Kelli Morrison-Vigliotti, with her husband Monte of Lexington, SC, Jill Greene with her husband Richard of Clayton, NC, and Dana Sadler and her husband Michael of Mystic, CT. five granddaughters, Alysia, Abbygale, Alexis, Julianna, and Makenzie as well as a their only grandson, Robert. Three great granddaughters, Baileigh, Riley, and Hailee. Bob is survived by a sister, Jane Warden of Waterford Ct, a sister, Rita Keefe of Groton Ct, a brother Kenneth Hayes of Pearland Tx, a sister Bobbie Beyers of Ledyard Ct., and his late brother John Cappa of Ma. Dad knew how to enjoy life to the fullest and adored his wife and his girls. Our family extends our sincere appreciation to Debbie Sloan, RN Nurse of Palliative and Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Carolina HPC, Hospice and Palliative Care, 140 Stoneridge Dr. Suite 630 Columbia SC 29210 in Robert Morrison's name, or Make A Wish Foundation, in honor of Robert Morrison. A celebration of his life will be held on July 9, 2016 at 10am at St Mary's Church, top of Fort Hill, Groton, Ct.
