The Long cousins did not see each other when we were kids as we were raised in far flung and divergent parts of the world. That common thread of adventure and curiosity ran through out the family and the bonds remained tight. We were raised to believe, through Grandpa's Family journal, in a sense of family closeness and caring. It was and honor and joy to spend a few days with Leslie and family members in S.C. this past fall. I was touched by the strength and passion still so evident in Leslie even as life provided her with greater and greater challenges. She had a thoughtful word, a ready laugh and an intelligent observation to make on the world and people around her.
Les, rest in peace, knowing you have left behind a living legacy of hope, compassion and love , in each of your own family and everyone who shared the gifts of yourself that you offered .
I was, indeed, blessed to have known you, your cousin, Sue

I was privileged to have Leslie as a sister in law, she was as close to me as any biological sister would be. We shared our joys our sorrows, we had many laughs and prayed each other through many trials. Leslie was very special and will continue to live in my heart until I see her once again in heaven. She loved the Lord, she loved her family, she loved her friends and that is the greatest legacy she could leave us with. In HIS lavish love, Joan Long

My friendship with Leslie began 46 years ago in Danville,IN when she and Ben & 4yr old Stef and Tim moved in across the street. The friendship endured and flourished all these years-with the family as well as Leslie.
I last saw Leslie at Easter time. The picture with her sewing machine evokes a smile as well as sadness. She worked on two of those pot holders for me while we visited. They were not quite finished, so she said she would mail them. I really think the pot holders arrived at our home in Cincinnati before we got here.
I shall miss Leslie. I am so glad to continue to share memories with Stef and Alan. I never had read or heard of the poem she liked. It just does sound like her. I admired her spirit, her wit, her intellect, and her caring- most especially of her family.
After reading the poem-
our long time friendship will continue.

I had the privilege of knowing Ben and Leslie since coming to Aiken, SC in 2004. I always admired Leslie's "can do" attitude toward all things in life. She was always full of enthusiasm, a caring spirit and love for her fellow man. We know she is basking in the glory of her Savior and is once again with her loved ones. Thank you Leslie and Ben for the memories

We are so sorry about Leslie's passing, she was a very good friend and will be missed
terribly. But there are good memories of all the swim meets years ago and her wonderful potholders that she has been making recently. Many friends and relatives of
mine are very appreciative of her skill !!
