Obituary of Samuel David Rikard

Samuel David Rikard "Sam", 85, formerly of West Columbia, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Carolina Gardens Assisted Living in Lexington. He was born on May 26, 1930 in Lexington, SC. He was the son of the late Simuel and Mattie Rikard. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Anne Rikard, his son Joe Rikard and his grandson Ross Rikard. He is survived by his sons, Sammy Rikard (Dottie), and Steve Rikard, his grandchildren, Daniel Rikard (Holly), Garett Rikard (Courtney), Emilee Rikard and Evan Rikard, his great granddaughter JoAnna Rikard, and his sisters Alice Shealy and Ruby Davis. He is also survived by his wife Frances Rikard, his stepdaughter Lynn Allen, and step grandchildren Jessica Morgan, Allison Roland and Cheynne Yonce. Sam was a successful businessman who owned a furniture store in West Columbia for many years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Platt Springs UMC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 at Platt Springs United Methodist Church in West Columbia. Visitation will follow at the church. He will be buried at a private graveside service Saturday morning at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, SC. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Platt Springs UMC. The family would like to thank the loving staff of Compassionate Care Hospice and Carolina Gardens for the support and care his was given over the last year of his life. He often expressed his thankfulness for the many people who surrounded him with love.
