Obituary of Dorethea Fryer

Mrs. Dorethea Hillian Fryer, daughter of the late Mr. Lemuel Plenty Hillian and the late Mrs. Roseanna Merriman Hillian, was born October 1, 1941, in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She peacefully fell asleep in death on June 25, 2015 at Palmetto Baptist Parkridge Hospital with her family by her side. She was married to Mr. James Thomas Fryer on August 19, 1967. They were blessed with four children. Dorethea was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 2, 1972. Talking to and sharing with others about Jehovah God was one of the major joys in her life. Many times doing so by expanding her ministry as an auxiliary pioneer. It was these Bible truths that she and James worked hard to instill in each of their children. Dorethea loved to share scriptures with others that helped them cope with varying situations in life. She faithfully did this even during her illness to the best of her ability. Many often commented on how strong her faith was. Several noted how encouraging to them she was. One of the nurses that came to assist Dorethea said, "I came to help you, but maybe I was sent here for you to help me." Dorethea had many hobbies. Some of these hobbies were playing the piano, singing, artwork, telling jokes, looking at different birds, and enjoying beautiful nature. She could look at something in nature that may seem like an insignificant thing to others; however, after her description of it and pointing out intricate features, you too could see the extreme beauty in it. She did this with people too. She could always find the positive in others. To know Dorethea was to love her. She was known to be a classy, sophisticated, loving, and caring women. She loved her family and wanted the best for everyone she met. Every night, she would remind her family, "don't forget to pray and do your Bible reading." She will be greatly missed! Fond and loving memories will forever be cherished by her husband James and their children Tonya B. Fryer, Kenneth Fryer, Stacey (Michael) Staley, and Sharon (Sunday) Ugoji. Her sisters, Barbara Hillian, Theressa Hillian, Maxine Martin, and Genenie (Nathan) Donovan. Brothers, Lemuel Glenn (Jacqueline) Hillian, Donell (Linda) Hillian, Thomas Donald (Geraldine) Hillian.
