Obituary of Mary Jane Brewer Henline

Mary Jane Brewer Henline, 82, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on May 31, 2015. Mary was born in Woodbine, Georgia on March 4th, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Marie Pelham and Johnny Brewer, and grew up in a very large family. She met Ronald Henline, of Lebanon, Indiana, when he was stationed at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, South Carolina, and they were married in 1958. The couple had two sons, Ronnie, born in 1960, and Michael, born in 1964. A few years later, the Henline family opened their home to foster children. One was a little girl, named Cynthia Lynn, who joined the family when she was only three months old. She was eventually adopted. Cyndy's older half-brother, Chuck, arrived later. As a young woman, Mary worked as a waitress at Drakes, in Columbia, and although she had a few other jobs over the years, her primary focus was always her family. Her life was devoted to raising her family, and family was everything to her. She cherished her own, and loved all of her relations very deeply. Mary Henline grew up as a Christian, and was true to her faith until the very end. She was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to sing, write poetry, and was a wonderful cook. In fact, her son, Michael, has yet to find anyone who has come remotely close to touching the taste of his Mom's fried chicken. She is survived by her son, Michael R. Henline (Albert Gino), Columbia; her foster son, Charles McCain; her sisters, Eunice Brewer, Cayce; Merittie Owens, Myrtle Beach; Faye Smith (Sachie), Lexington; Linda Seegars, Phoenix, Arizona; and by her brothers, Odell Brewer (Evelyn), West Columbia; Johnny Brewer, West Columbia; Glen Brewer, Cayce; Tony Brewer, Cayce; Wayne Brewer (Rebecca), Lexington; sisters-in-law, Gloria Brewer, Cayce; Hope Brewer, West Columbia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Henline; her son, Ronald Henline Jr.; her daughter, Cynthia Henline Frounfelter; brothers, Ghent Brewer, Neal Brewer and Danny Brewer; sister in law, Pat Brewer; brothers-in-law, Charles Seegars and Sammie Owens; nephew, Johnny Brewer. A memorial service for Mary Henline will be held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, South Carolina on Sunday, July 26th, 2015 at 4:00 PM.
