Obituary of Russel Irwin Morris

MSgt. Russel Irwin Morris, USAF, Ret. - Lexington. A funeral service for MSgt. Russel I. Morris, 84 of Lexington will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park. Pastor Brandon Goff will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mr. Morris passed away at his Lexington home on Sunday, March 22. Born in Normal, Illinois, he was a son of the late Fred and Nina May Bailey Morris, former Delavan and Heyworth, IL residents. He served his country proudly in the US Air Force, and retired after 23 years of faithful service with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Environmental Technician at the Columbia Airport. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred Aldridge Morris; 5 children, Carol Lea Miller, Gary Morris, Larry Morris, Sharon Van Loan, and Kenneth Morris; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Ellen Huston and Vauna Morris. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Wayne Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., #100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
