Obituary of Thomas Eugene Sturkie

Thomas "Tom" Eugene Sturkie, 59, of West Columbia passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in West Columbia, SC. Tom was born on February 7, 1955 to the late Clyde and Dorothy Tedder Renfroe Sturkie in Orangeburg County. He was retired form Sunbird Boat Company in Columbia. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Brenda Lee Sturkie; son, Brandon E. Sturkie of Aiken; sister, Marie Sturkie; half- brothers, Marty Walling and Laurie "Bud" Walling both of Orangeburg; two grandchildren; and several nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr Sturkie is preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Walling Dowd and a niece, Tonya Carson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 6276, West Columbia, SC 29171. Memorial services will be held on October 12, 2014 at 12pm at Green Hill Baptist Church, 1734 Augusta Hwy in West Columbia.
