Obituary of David R Stegbauer

David R. Stegbauer, 68 of Columbia, South Carolina died at his home September 5, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Detroit, Michigan son of the late Fred and Frances Stegbauer. David is survived by the love of his life, Sandra D. Stegbauer his loving wife; two sons David F. Stegbauer of Belleair Bluffs, FL, Robert J. Stegbauer and wife, Amy of Collegeville, PA; one daughter Sheila E. Schatzke and husband, John of Friendswood, TX; four granddaughters Hailey and Sophia Stegbauer, Madeline and Audrey Schatzke; two brothers, Richard Stegbauer (Meg) of Seminole, FL, Jim Stegbauer (Debra) of Largo, FL,; one sister Sheila Lord (Charlie) of Isle of Palms, SC; three nephews Ricky, Keith Stegbauer & Charles Lord, two nieces, Ashley Stegbauer, Christina Stegbauer. His loving Mother-in-law Maggie Hayes of Greenville; and loving brother and sister in-laws that he cherished. His family was very dear to him and will be greatly missed by his entire family. His favorite pastime was spending time on his pontoon boat with Sandra his loyal first mate. He also enjoyed cooking and dining out. He also had a great passion for his work and customers. His kind and generous soul will be missed by all that knew him. David formerly resided in Michigan and moved to Florida in 1978 where he was a long time business owner. In the late 80's he moved to Sumter, SC where he began Exterior Designs and Services, specializing in home improvements. In the mid 1990's, he came to find his home in Columbia at Yacht Cove on Lake Murray, where he founded Environmental Clean-Air Systems & Sanitization and later NU-Life Dry Carper Cleaning & Sanitization. The family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Minter & Staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates and the Hospice caregivers of the Newberry Branch. Additionally, all others that cared for him during his illness. A special thanks to the Yacht Cove neighbors and friends for your love and support during this time.
