Obituary of Ruby Rose Paul Schmotzer

WEST COLUMBIA-Ruby Rose Paul Schmotzer was born on June 12, 1920 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Grover and May Paul. She grew up on the prairie in Buckingham, Colorado on a ranch. She was the sole graduate of the 1937 Buckingham High School. Mrs. Schmotzer died on Friday, June 20, 2014. In 1943 she married a young pilot, Charles Howard Schmotzer and they enjoyed sixty-eight years together. She is survived by a son, Donald Charles Schmotzer (Dianne); a daughter, Gale Schmotzer Frady (Ray); three grandsons, Stanley Donald Schmotzer (Kimberly), Sean Ray Frady and Clarence Hunter Frady; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Nichole Schmotzer. She is predeceased by her loving husband. Ruby was an active volunteer with the Boys' Clubs of America and received their highest honor The Man and Boys award in 1961. She was a den mother with the cub scouts and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed restoring antiques, especially antique dolls in her later years. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Woodridge Memorial Park, Gazebo, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169 or Boys' Clubs of the Midlands, 206 N. Sumter Street, Columbia, SC.
