Obituary of Virginia Mixon Smith

Virginia Mixon Smith, 86, of Columbia entered into rest Monday, April 7, 2014. Born in Laurel Hill, NC on November 24, 1927 she was the daughter of the late John C. Mixon and Leslie Sanders. She was known by most as Ginny. She retired from Fort Jackson Transportation Office in 1987. Her loves were her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Mickie her dog. She also spent countless hours with her yard-work and the LORD. She is survived by her sons, Barry K. Smith of Columbia, SC, Brian K. Smith (Cathy) of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Tami Smith of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Justin D. Smith, Tyson M. Smith, Erin S. Winge (Chris) and Collin D. Smith; great-grandchildren, Christopher Winge, Hunter Winge and Noah Winge. In addition to her parents she is preceded in passing by her son, Blane K. Smith; sisters, Mildred Finkle (Rudy) and Doris Stillinger; and a brother, George Mixon (Hazel). Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at sea at a later date. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
