Obituary of Ruth R Hammond

Graveside services for Mrs. Ruth R. Hammond will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 3:45pm in Woodridge Memorial Park with Rev. Rusty Rabon officiating. The family will receive friends at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road Lexington SC 29072 from 2:30 until the time of the service. Mrs. Hammond, 76, of Lexington, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, Columbia, SC. She was born in Aiken, SC and had a thirty-year career teaching high school business. The last twenty-eight years at Brookland-Cayce High School where she retired in 1999. She was a Lexington County Master Gardener and a member of the Quail Hollow Garden Club and the Lexington County Retired Teachers Association. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Education Society. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ronnie Hammond. She is survived by her adopted family, Irene Odum and her daughters, Kirstin and Carey Odum; Margit Giles and Julia Davis; Lee and Jacqueline Thomas and their twin sons. Because of her love of children and learning, memorial donations may be directed to Grace Chapel Church Building Fund, 663 Dixiana Rd. West Columbia, SC 29172 for the construction of their Youth Center.
