Obituary of Lewis Eugene Todd

A Memorial Service and celebration of life for Lewis Eugene Todd will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 91 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 1pm with a service immediately following at 2pm. Lewis Eugene Todd, 69, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born in Ridgeland, SC on October 27, 1944, Gene was the son of the late Reverend AG and Carolyn Severence Todd, of Cherry Grove. He had a wonderful time growing up in Cherry Grove Beach, SC where he enjoyed shagging on the strand to beach music and hanging out with his friends on Ocean Drive Boulevard. Gene graduated from Wampee Little River High School. He then attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business. He was a proud alum of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A prominent real estate agent, developer and investor in Columbia and owner of Todd Realty, Gene was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Producers Club, North Lake Sertoma Club and the National Realtors Association. Gene was an avid golfer and lifelong Gamecock. When not in Columbia, Gene's time was spent on the South Carolina coast. He was a vibrant man who loved spending time with his friends and family, and especially his six grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters and their families: Patricia Todd Vinson (Kinny), Tracy Todd Etu (David) and Terri Todd Armstrong (Tom), all of Columbia; grandchildren, Robert Joseph Carson, Jr (Bo), Matthew Allen Carson, William Dawson Etu, Tyler Todd Etu, Hunter Todd Armstrong (HT) and his one and only granddaughter Hannah Paige Armstrong, all of Columbia; and his caregiver, lifetime friend and mother of his children, Sue Curtis Todd, of Columbia; and his wife, Debra Todd, of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Tamara Suzanne Todd. Gene wanted to send a heartfelt thanks to all of the physicians and caretakers at SCOA, but in particular: Dr. El Geneidy, Garland Ames and Nurse June. Also a special thank you to Dr. Jack Gottlieb of Columbia and to all of the amazing people from Tri-County Hospice- Tia, Dina Marie, Nancy and Sarah.
