Obituary of Lawton James Strickland

LEXINGTON-Funeral service for Lawton James "Jimmy" Strickland, Jr., 64, of Lexington, will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at Woodridge Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Woodridge Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland died Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Born in Jesup, Georgia, he was the son of Imogene Y. Strickland and the late Lawton James Strickland, Sr. He attended Chapel of Redemption in West Columbia. Jimmy served his country in the Navy. His love of life and people gave him great joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Stephanie Strickland of Lexington; his daughter, Coral J. Strickland also of Lexington; sisters, Linda Johnson (BJ) of Lexington and Ellen Surles of West Columbia; brother, Joseph Strickland of Lebanon, PA; mother-in-law, Carole Hall of New Haven, IN. and brother-in-law, David Hall of New Haven, IN.; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
